Lyla Robyn

moments after birth )

So it turns out I didn't have to wait too long for this baby girl to make her debut.
For the long/short story, here it goes...last Wednesday I went to my scheduled doctor's appointment and was only dilated to a 2.  Given my past history with early delivery, my doctor wanted me to come back the following Monday.  I made Matt go with me to my appointment (I told him I thought it was 50/50 chance of getting sent to the hospital.)  Our appointment was at 11AM and the doctor checked me again and gave me that look.  I was dilated to a 5 and bulging.  Go to the hospital.  Get there within an hour.
By the time we dropped off Mia, picked up some lunch and ate it, went home to get our stuff, turned around and went back when we realized we left our camera and video camera (to which Matt asked if I really needed them, he did have his camera phone, to which I responded, turn around and get our cameras),  and had to navigate around streets being blocked off due to some police chase, I got up to my labor and delivery room at 2pm.
By around 3:30pm my contractions were strong and close together and I asked for my epidural, which went perfectly.  By 5:30pm my doctor came and broke my water.  By 7pm I was ready to push.  I gave two pushes and out she came.  I couldn't really believe she came out so quickly.  I seriously didn't even break a sweat.  So far this one has been the easiest labor and delivery and easiest recovery.  She is also my smallest, weighing only 5lbs 15 ounces and 17 and 3/4 long.
this was Leigh's first baby delivery experience.  I told her they are not always that easy.

I wish I could wrap up my babies as tight as the nurses do.
The kids came the next morning to come see their little sister.  Chase was super excited.  Mia was a little nervous and not sure what to think.

I stayed the day on Tuesday and had a nurse that basically ignored me and didn't get me anything I asked for.  Not sure if they thought I didn't really need anything since this was my third kid.  I decided to get out of there as soon as they would let me and enjoy my own bed that night.  So we were home Tuesday night by 8:30pm...just a little over 24 hours after she was born.  It felt great to bring her home.

I loved hearing the story of your delivery! I seriously think that your "after delivery" photo is amazing. I am glad that she arrived so safely and that you are now home and hopefully getting settled. We are so very happy for you all!
